In Springfield’s season opener against WPI, Gell contributed at the plate and in the circle during her collegiate debut. The first-year tossed 3.1 innings of relief work to earn the save and added a hit in a 4-1 win to begin the afternoon before throwing a complete-game six-hitter to go along with an RBI double to propel the Pride another 4-1 victory. The sweep marked the first time since 2013 that the Pride took a pair of games from WPI, who entered the season as the reigning NEWMAC Champions.
